In The Beginning............
I got my first taste of mixing back in 1988 using and old tape deck and a turntable with a pitch control. I used to tune in to the early pirate radio stations such as Pulse FM, Sunrise and Rush FM. I would try out mixing music over the top of what the DJ was playing with the one turntable that I owned, I was hooked straight away!
I managed to get hold of 2 decks and a mixer and started practicing for hours every night. It wasn’t until 1992 at the age of 14 that I got my first set of Technics 1210s, I started playing hardcore music and doing parties for friends. Since then my taste of music has spanned across many genres of House and electronic music embracing everything from the 'summer of love', 1988, to the Present day!
The last few years I have been playing everything from 60's swing, 70's disco, 80's & 90's clasics at the commercial parties through to Funky House, Old Skool House, Electro House, and Techno at the club nights I DJ at. Over the years I have developed my own unique style of club mixing and have become known for my first class mixing abilities and skill of selecting the right tunes at the right time!
My DJing has seen me play at many clubs in the Uk and Europe. Early on in my career during 1993/4, I was playing at local venues in London and Kent. I was regularly playing at venues such as The SE8 Club in Deptford, The Imperial Gardens in Camberwell and Langtrys in Beckenham as well as various other private functions in South East London. I soon secured my first residency with a night called Club Fiction at a club in the Old Kent road. The night grew bigger quickly and moved to the Imperial Gardens. I found myself playing alongside the likes of Paul Gardner (Soulseekerz), Jon Pleased Wimmin, Lisa Lashes and Brandon Block. The Night is still going strong today after 10 years but is now called Kinky Malinky and has gone global boasting it's own record label and putting out compilation mix CDs and booking some of the biggest names in the business.
In 1996 I went to The White Island - Ibiza! I secured a residency for the season at a small club called the Viper Bar in the west end of San Antonio. I took over from A DJ called Davey Jones who was A DMC World DJ championship Finalist which was a great acheivement for me at the time. After securing this residency it opened up more opportunities within the close nit club scene in Ibiza and I was booked regularly to play House and Trance at a club called Nightlife on the main drag in San Antonio. This club is honoured with being, in part, responsible for the Acid Housic Music revolution that swept the uk in 1988. I played at many of the other clubs in the San Antonia region such as Kanya, New Star Bar, Play 2, Sunrise and Simples.
When I came back to England buzzing with the experience that Ibiza had given me I secured a residency for a well-established local night called Naughty at a club called Delano’s in Kent. This residency gave me the chance to really make a mould for myself locally by playing every week to a crowd who were up for some feel good Funky House tunes. My residency lasted for three years and I became a firm favourite of the club. Naughty took their night to Ibiza to the legendary Es Paradis and I was given the main set of the night 2-4am which was an unforgettable experience.
Since then I have played at various Clubs on the London circuit such as Ministry of Sound, Pacha, The Rock (London), Motion, SW1, EC1 Club, The Voodoo Lounge, Club Coliseum, The Glasshouse, Flux, Saint Bar, etc, etc.
I started up Mirrorballparties in 2006 and have played at lot's of different venues and played many different styles of music. My customers have never been dissapointed and often come back to us for future parties.
I joined Housefreaks Internet Radio station in 2008. I was very popular with the listeners and had a loyal following every week.
